To provide training to personnel related to grease from different industries viz. manufacturers, users, input/equipment suppliers, etc, NLGI-IC organised following 11 education courses.
12th Education Course was organized at TATA Steel Jamshedpur on the topic of “Steel Plant Lubrication” during September 11-12, 2009. The program was inaugurated by Sh. Om Narayan, Vice President, TATA Steel, Jamshedpur and in his inaugural address he stressed for providing fundamentals of lubricantion and lubricants for the benefit of the participants. The following topics were covered by eminent speakers from industry and oil companies:
a) Basics of friction wear and lubrication
b) Tribological treatment of failure analysis of bearings and gears
c) Fundamentals of lubricating greases
d) High performance greases for the Steel industry
e) Physicochemical evaluation of lubricating greases
f) Tribotesting
g) Case Studies and condition monitoring
h) Base oil and additive.
The faculty members were Sh. C. Mishra of Ex. TATA Steel and M/s. Maintenance Engineering & Tribology Consultants; Dr. R. T. Mookken, DGM, IOC R&D Centre; Dr. E. Sayanna, DGM, IOC R&D Centre; Mr. Abhijit Roy, DGM, Balmer Lawrie & Co. Ltd; Dr. T. Singh, Sr. Manager, BPCL; Mr. A. K. Harinarain, Sr. Manager, IOC R&D Centre and Mr. G.R.P. Singh, Head, Fluid Power, Maintenance Expert Group, TATA Steel.
There were total 42 participants from a wide cross section of Steel industry and oil companies. The participants were from TATA Steel, The Tin Plate Company of India Ltd, Bokaro Steel Plant, Rourkela Steel Plant, RDCIS- SAIL, Centre for Engineering & Technology- SAIL, Indian Steel & Wire Products, CQAPP, IOCL, HPCL, BPCL, Balmer Lawrie & Co. Ltd, APAR Industries, Masterline Lubricants, KLUBER Lubricants, etc.
There were lot of interactions between the participants and the faculty on various issues related to steel industry. All the participants appreciated the program and suggested for similar courses in all the steel plants. |
